Zak Stensland

Chef

Zak comes from one of the most popular restaurants in the city, Mister Oso. Before he moved to Denver, he wanted to work with Carrie Baird so much, after seeing her on Top Chef, he called her non-stop until she agreed to give him an interview, and then drove 13 hours from Minneapolis to Bar Dough.

Previously, Zak had worked at Grand Geneva, a French tasting menu restaurant called Heidi’s, Lucia’s and finally, in Minneapolis, Borough, where he was promoted to Sous Chef. Since 2019, Zak has worked with us at The Culinary Creative Group, first at Bar Dough and then Mister Oso.

Zak’s favorite breakfast food is a classic French omelet with “the dumbest stuff you can put on it.” Fun fact: Zak can do a standing backflip and knows one magic trick. Carrie thinks it’s incredibly weird that Zak skis without poles.
